Windows 10: Windows 10, 1909 Update Fails!!

Hi Microsoft,

I am currently at Windows 10, 1903 Version

Back in May 2019, after updating to 1903, I was never able to get any updates through Windows Update except for Security definition updates






so I tried both Media creation tool and Windows update assistant to force install 1909 version with keeping my files and apps option checked, and in either ways, I always get the message box: Windows Update Fails! and an error code 0x8007042b



I tried the following as mentioned in some Microsoft answers, Tech blogs, Forums and Videos.

- Restarting Services

- All Services related to this are enabled to start automatically

- Using sfc /scannow

- Backing up the old SoftwareDistribution Folder

- Performing a clean boot

- Providing more Disk space

- etc...

Deferring updates is off.

I just found a REG SZ key in the registery under Windows Update/UX which has PendingRestartTimeStart as a name and a date from 2019 as a value, so I thought that might be the problem causing conflicts with newer updates so my system keeps thinking that it is up to date... maybe! Tried to delete that key and tried everything again, it keeps saying that my pc is up to date and no further updates are available that's Windows Update

and the Update assistant software keeps saying Failed

I don't know what to do, Never seen any similar case in the Web

I even compared my Windows Update registery Values with another 1909 copy of Windows which were pratically the same!

Note: The Update assistant didn't create a roll back folder, it just stucks at "Your Pc will restart in a few moments" and then PC never restarts, it just show the Failed message Box

Any Help would be appreciated, It is horrible when the PC says No Updates are available while everything seems Okay!!

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
