Windows 10 19H1 to come with Windows Security app improvements

Microsoft is currently working on its next major update 19H1 which is planned for a public release of April 2019. The update will be coming with many new features and improvements for the users to work with.

Microsoft has already released a preview build 18305 earlier in the week which contains the upcoming new features to be tested by Windows Insiders in the holiday season. Some features like Windows Sandbox, Kaomoji (Face Characters) have already been released to the Windows Insiders.

The company has also released some improvements to the Security App for Windows 10. The Windows Security App will now have a new Protection History experience which has been completely revamped. The Protection History now gives you details about threats and available actions.

Microsoft has also added a Controlled folder access blocks to history along with blocks made through organizational configuration. Users will also be able to see pending recommendations in red or yellow states in the history list.

Microsoft has also introduced a new setting to the Windows Security App called “Tamper Protection”. Tamper Protection is a new setting from Windows Defender Antivirus and is now available in the Windows Security app. But for users to have additional protection you would need to enable Tamper Protection in the Windows Security App.

You can find this setting under Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Virus & Threat Protection Settings. Once enabled it provides users with additional protections against changes to key security features.

The new security improvements are already part of the latest Insider build 18305 released to the Fast Ring Insiders and you can download the same by going to Settings>Windows Update>Check for Updates, if you haven’t done yet. Do let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Windows 10 19H1 to come with Windows Security app improvements

    Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Launch the Store from your Start menu.
    • Click the user icon next to the search box.
    • Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
    • Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
    • When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”
