Windows 10: Windows 10 19H2 Release will not bring updates to WHCP

Compared to the prior Windows releases, we have made flexibilities into the WHCP in 19H2 release, our intent is to enable partner to focus on the quality aspect of products, and less about the oriented activities.

Windows Hardware Compatibility program (WHCP) activities:

WHCP requirements – No change. Windows 10, version 1903 requirements remain applicable for windows 19H2 release.

Hardware Lab kit – No change. Since WHCP requirements will persist in 19H2, HLK will also remain the same. There will not be new HLK release in 19H2. While both windows 10, version 1903 (19H1) OS can be used for windows 10, version 1903 qualification, they will be recognized as meeting the windows 10. Version 1903 qualification.

Errata – No change. All Windows 10, version 1903 errata will continue to be valid for Windows 19H2 release.

HLK playlist – No change. HLK version 1903 playlist can be used for both Windows 10, version 1903 and 19H2 release.

Driver signature – No change. Drivers meeting all the applicable Windows 10, version 1903 requirements, will be digitally signed with “v100.x86.19H1” or “v100.x64.19H1” signature attributes.

Submission – No change. Both Windows 10, version1903 and 19H2(RTM) OS can be used for WHCP submission.

WHCP qualification – Windows 10, version 1903

Required OS version – Either Windows 10, version 1903 or 19H2(RTM)

HLK version – HLK version 1903

New Windows 10 Insider Preview Slow Build 18362.10000 (19H2) - July 1 Insider

Confirming 19H2 as a Service Pack:

Let's list important points about 19H2 at the end:

19H2 will be a minor feature update for Windows 10 like a service pack.

19H2 will not contain major features. It'll contain fixes and improvements.

19H2 will be released in September 2019.

19H2 will be released via Windows Update like a monthly update.

19H2 will not be a huge 4GB+ full ISO build. It'll be small in size like normal updates.

19H2 might be called Windows 10 September 2019 Update version 1909 at release time.

That's definitely a good decision and wise move from Microsoft. Having 2 big feature updates every year was complicated and annoying. People had to download and install huge ISO files or builds. Now one major feature update and one minor service pack like feature update sounds good finally.

i want to upgrade from window 7/8 to window 10 . which one is better 1.directly go to window 10 19H2 OR 2.FIRST INSTALL 1903 AND THEN GO TO 19H2

Honestly, you should wait until 19H2 (1909) is released and then update to Windows 10, that will be a more stable release and will result in a more responsive system . .. .

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today, we are talking about the next steps we are taking at continuing to evolve Windows 10 servicing and quality with the next feature update for Windows 10. This release has been referred to as 19H2 with Insiders. 19H2 will include a scoped set of features for select performance improvements, enterprise features, and quality enhancements and will be delivered to customers running the May 2019 Update using servicing technology (like the monthly Cumulative Update process).

For Insiders, this means a few differences to how they will get 19H2:

Insiders will need to be in the Slow ring and on the May 2019 Update to receive 19H2 bits.

19H2 will be delivered to Insiders in the Slow ring via servicing as a Cumulative Update and not full build updates.

Some Insiders may not see the new features right away as we perform controlled feature rollouts (CFRs) to gain better feedback on overall build quality.

Specific to CFRs, we may ship features in these updates turned off by default and turn them on independently of bits getting downloaded to Insiders’ PCs.

Even though we will be delivering 19H2 to Insiders in the Slow ring through servicing, we plan to continue to publish blog posts for each of these flights and include information on anything new and notable and any known issues that might be included. We are also releasing 19H2 Build 18362.10000 to Insiders in the Slow ring today. This update contains two behind-the-scenes changes designed for OEMs and does not contain anything visible to Insiders. We’re using this update to test our process and servicing pipeline for delivering these updates to customers. 19H2 updates to Insiders will also be cumulative with the latest May 2019 Updates. For example, today’s release also includes the same improvements and fixes contained in this Cumulative Update released for the May 2019 Update here. Going forward, these updates will continue to contain the same improvements and fixes released for the May 2019 Update in addition to new 19H2 changes.

As always, Insiders are encouraged to report any issues they experience with these updates through Feedback Hub.
