    windows 10 2004 audio problem on dell 5558


    I updated windows with latest update 2004. I audio and mic stopped working realtek audio on dell 5558. Also the search bar does not work. Driver install is failing. If i want to restore earlier version - it says some applications will have to be re-installed. Does not mention which apps. Anyone has a solution for a similar issue?. Regret updating. someone at MS hearing?

    Dell Inspiron Notebook 5558 not upgradable to Win 10?

    Dell Support tells me my Inspiron Notebook 5558 (purchased in 2016) is not tested for Windows 10 November update. When I check out this Dell support site (https://www.dell.com/support/article/il/en/ilbsdt1/sln302709/computers-tested-for-windows-10-and-windows-10-november-update?lang=en#Inspiron-NB)
    my 5558 is indeed on the list of Win 10 tested     machines. How do I determine which is right? Can I, or can I not, upgrade my Win 7 Pro 5558 to Win 10?

    Audio problem on Dell computer

    @Stu - thanks for the detailed steps. I followed these last night and audio worked perfectly on my Samsung HDTV monitor. However, this morning audio is gone again, and performing the same steps again (even though the settings were already correct) doesn't
    restore audio.

    The only audio options that work for me after the upgrade to Windows 10 are: (1) headphones in the analog audio jack, or (2) external speakers connected to the rear panel. Sound from the connected monitor are not really working.

    I'm so confused as to who is actually controlling the audio - there are:

    • DELL Audio drivers for the Inspiron PC
    • Intel Audio drivers
    • Realtek Audio drivers
    • Microsoft Audio drivers (?)
    No wonder there's a problem...seems to me they are fighting for control of the audio device!

    15.6" FHD Screen
    Matte screen
    DVD ROM
    MAXX Audio

    Please suggest me any other laptop which comes closer to this except Dell 5559, i7 and 16GB RAM is must
