Windows 10: Windows 10 2004 Update fails 0x800705b4 or 0x8000ffff and more

Windows 10 Programs like cmd or devmgmt.msc are no longer signed by Microsoft and are blocked for safety except with the Administrator account, a new account with admin rights has the same issues. I'm pretty sure it's not malware that's causing it but an update that messed up the system.

Along with this we're constantly getting 0x800705b4 or 0x8000ffff with Windows Update.

We've tried manually installing the updates, uninstalling updates that were known to cause issues, using most update fixes, sfc /scannow, different dism commands and new profiles as mentioned earlier.

We're at a loss here, if possible we'd like to not reïnstall Windows 10 with a reset or a new image, especially if this happens in the future.

We'd appreciate any help you can give.

To resolve your concern about the Error 0x800705b4, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Reset Windows Update Components
  to resolve error codes while updating your version of Windows.
  
• Use
  DISM tool to fix some Windows corruption errors.

I tried all the suggested steps and still got Error 0x8000ffff

 

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
