Windows 10: Windows 10 accounts & File Explorer

New to windows 10, I have 2 accounts both in family.
When I log into my account and open File explorer, I can see all the programs copied across from my previous PC, e.g. music, pictures etc., however, when my wife logs into her account, and opens file explorer the folders are all empty.
How do we share common files on a single PC using file explorer and not a network or OneDrive?

File Explorer has gone crazy after last nights upgrade.

My only has icons instead of full descriptions. I can not get back to a point where I have tabs that actually say something. Please tell me how to get my view repaired? help... Help.... HELP!!!

 

Where are my Word and Excel (Office 7) files after I very stupidly "upgraded" to Windows 10?

Press Windows key + X

Click Programs and Features

Do you see your installed applications such as Microsoft Office?

Its possible you are logged into a temporary user account.

Enable 'Show hidden files and folders'

After doing so, look under C:\Windows.old if your files are there

If not, look in C:\Users if a user account might be there with your files.

If they are, copy them over.

 

Hi Bingo, welcome to the Ten Forums.

Use the Public folders for that, it is the easiest way to allow all users of a single PC to access the same files. If you open the C:\Users folder you will see that there are so called profile folders for you, your wife and the third profile named Public. Move the music you want to share with your wife from C:\Users\YourUserprofile\Music to C:\Users\Public\Public Music, the images from C:\Users\YourUserprofile\Pictures to C:\Users\Public\Public Pictures, and so on.

In Windows all users have an automatic access to all content in Public folders.

Being new to accounts your answer is both prompt and relevant. I have read so many articles on windows 10 yet haven't come across yours. I will update PC at the weekend.

You are welcome. For the simple file sharing among the users of the same single PC, the Public folders is absolutely the easiest way.
