    I originally downloaded the free version of Windows 10 when the offer was valid for Windows 7 and 8 users. My hard drive crashed and instead of checking whether I had a version of Windows 10 available, the installer loaded his copy of Windows 10 on my laptop. I guess I assumed it was my old version but that's what I get for assuming. The license expiring window started popping up so I went and bought my own Windows 10 home license and installed it. This, unfortunately, did not stop the license expiring window from popping up. When I inserted my license key - I receive the error code 0xc004f050 which basically says my license key doesn't work and I need to insert another activation key code. When I check my version of Windows though it says my Home version is installed and I cannot find anywhere his prior version (which I suspect was a business version) of Windows 10. At a loss right now as to what to do. I have the expense of a new license but it won't activate. Help!!

    Possibly there can be the problem with Microsoft activation Server, so your Windows 10 is not activated. In this scenario, you need to wait and verify if it is the issue from Microsoft’s side. But if you are getting error code 0x803f7001, you can also try these steps:

    1. Open Settings app. Then go to Update and security > Activation screen > Change product.
    2. Type your Windows edition product key and click Next.
    3. You’ll get We couldn’t activate Windows error message.
    4. Retry steps 1-3 then type your 25-characters unique product key.
    5. Wait for the process to complete, Windows 10 is activated.
