Windows 10: Windows 10 activation error 0x803fa067

There are a few posts with this error but so many people jump into the thread it's impossible for my poor befuddled brain anyway to figure out the solution amongst the pages and pages of new posts and suggested solutions so can someone shed some light here please before all the "me too"s? ;


The PC is a Lenovo notebook based on an AMD CPU but I doubt that's important The PC's "Properties" page says it's an HP though, so I don't know what that's about.


When I first came across this computer it was very slow and behaving strangely so I cleaned it up and updated to build 1909 using an ISO I downloaded from MS a couple of months ago. I have used this same image several times before and since with no issues - as far as I know, probably on both "home" and "Pro" editions of Windows but I don't usually pay much attention to that as none of my customers are Domain joined so it makes no significant difference. Point is, the ISO file is not AFAIK supposed to be edition-specific.


After handing back to the user, the PC was fine for a while she cannot say how long before she noticed a "non genuine windows" message in the corner of the screen. Running the activation troubleshooter reports the interesting news that the licence key on the machine is for Home whereas the installed version is Pro. Maybe someone at some stage "upgraded" her PC using a hack or a pirated version of Windows or something - hard to get details from some people.


So I purchased a Pro licence key on line from a reseller I have used before with no negative consequences and changed activation key. Tried activation. No go. "We can't activate [...] don't have a valid digital licence [...] select Troublseshoot below". Pointless selecting Troubleshoot because it analyses the stored key, not the new one I just entered. I'm attaching the result of smlgr.vbs /dlv:





Please tell me this can be fixed without reinstalling from bare metal...

Activation/Upgrade Error 0x803fa067

I tried to Updgrade my windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro.
I tried it with the default key that upgrades Windows 10 to pro without activating it(which is done in the second step).

The Universal-Key for Windows 10 Pro which is published by Microsoft is VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T. I tried that one but I get the error 0x803fa067.

I first tried it with the Windows 10 Settings using the Change Product Key Button in the Activation "Tab" And second with the command slmgr.vbs -ipk VK7JG-...
Both methods werent succesfull.

What the error originally means is: you don't have a digital licence or a valid Product Key.
I guess either the newly bought laptop was delivered with a fraudulent license( then microsoft is bluntly lying to me)





or the error message isn't quite correct. In this case I would go with my second guess

I am not sure why this Problem occures, so my question is: why do I get the Error 0x803fa067?
I am aware of the fact that I could reinstall Windows 10 Pro(which is the way I will probably do it) but I am intrigued to know how I could resolve the Problem without spending those extra 15 minutes.

Hi all

This is my scenario:

I upgraded a couple of years ago from Windows 8.1 Home OEM to Windows 10 Home.

Now I'm trying to update from Win 10 Home to Win 10 PRO using the general PK VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T as suggested in many posts. I've a valid OEM Windows 10 Pro PK to insert after upgrading procedure. When I start the upgrade procedure, I get this
message: Is not possible activate Windows in this PC because you don't have a digital licence or a valid PK. The error code is 0x803FA067.

When I open Setting=>Activation I find "Windows is active with a digital licence connected to your Microsoft Account".

Any suggestion?
