Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation Error 0xC004C003

I arrived to work the morning of Nov 14, 2018 and my Windows 10 computer had done an automatic update. (I could tell because my applications had been closed and a few, like Chrome, had been restarted.)


There was a message in the corner of my screen saying "Activate Windows Go to Settings to activate Windows." When I went to Settings and tried to reactivate Windows it gave me error code 0xC004C003.


I did a web search and came up with this article that advised me to just ignore the problem until Microsoft fixed it.

So I've been ignoring the problem, but it's been three weeks. I still get the same error. Should I continue to wait for a fix? Or is there something that I should do to fix this?


I work at a small company. We don't have an IT department. It's up to me to fix this.


I didn't install or change anything about my computer hardware or operating system before this happened. It shouldn't have anything to do with a legitimate activation problem. I've been using this computer since August 2017.


Does anyone have advice for me?

• Navigate to Update and Security
• Click on Activation
