Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation Error

Hello, maybe there's a simple solution to this error that I'm not finding, but essentially I had purchased Windows 10 Home in January of 2020 off of the Microsoft store to upgrade from Windows 8.


However, starting maybe 3 months ago a warning popped up in the bottom right corner of the desktop telling me to activate windows by going into the settings. When I got to Activation under Update & Security in the settings, a blurb in red writing says the following:


"We can't activate Windows on this device as we can't connect to your organization's activation server. Make sure you're connected to your organization's network and try again. If you continue having problems with activation, contact your organization's support person. Error code: 0xC004F074"


When I run the Windows Troubleshoot, it completes with the same error code saying my copy of Windows cannot be activated and to check the connection or contact a system administrator for more information.


Following Support's instruction has led to a completely different error code. It suggested I go to Change Product Key and enter the key I was provided during purchase. When copying and pasting the product key as per instruction, I get the following message:


"The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again, or enter a different one. 0xc004f050."


If anyone knows how to fix said errors, that would be greatly appreciated. I have previously tried following online instructions and the one I suspect to be the cause is the clean install of Windows 10 instead of properly upgrading from Windows 8, which is what this PC was on when I purchased it. I never inquired if the Windows 8 key was genuine, but it might not be as the settings of my computer lists four different characters at the end of the current product key than the actual Windows 10 key ends with from the Microsoft Store.


As stated before, if anyone knows the solution, great! If not, no harm done! I just wanted to see if I could square it away as I've been locked out of basic settings such as desktop customization, and it's a little annoying to have spent $146.65 for what is essentially a demo version of Windows 10.

Windows 10 will not activate Error code 0x803F7001

Possibly there can be the problem with Microsoft activation Server, so your Windows 10 is not activated. In this scenario, you need to wait and verify if it is the issue from Microsoft’s side. But if you are getting error code 0x803f7001, you can also try these steps:

1. Open Settings app. Then go to Update and security > Activation screen > Change product.
2. Type your Windows edition product key and click Next.
3. You’ll get We couldn’t activate Windows error message.
4. Retry steps 1-3 then type your 25-characters unique product key.
5. Wait for the process to complete, Windows 10 is activated.
