  1. Windows 10 Activation issue after reinstallation

    Hi,

    History:

I originally had Windows 7 Home, came preinstalled with my HP laptop. I have upgraded it to Windows 8 Pro and then upgraded to Windows 10.

    Issue:

My Windows 10 got corrupted and required to reinstall it. However, after reinstallation, my laptop rebooted to Windows 10 Home. I assumed that it had taken the key of original installed OS (i.e. Windows 7 Home). I tried to update the product key using Activation wizard, by providing Windows 8 Pro product key. The OS now shows following status,

    Edition: Windows 10 Enterprise

    Activation: Windows is not activated

Troubleshooting doesn't help, asks to check internet connection or contact system administrator (its my personal system).

PS: I have upgraded from Window 8 to Windows 10 during the offer, when one can simply upgrade their OS to Windows 10, so I do not have any keys for it.

Kindly let me know how can I change my OS to Windows 10 Pro and activate it.

    Thanks,

    Awaneesh

    :)

[Solved] Windows 10 keeps reinstalling KB3119142

I noticed quite some time ago that KB3119142 (Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package) kept reinstalling itself for some reason. At least once daily. Sometimes up to several times a day. I just ignored it. It didn't seem to be doing any harm. And I figured they'd eventually fix it. Well...days turned into weeks, weeks into months, with no end to the problem in sight. It dragged on unsolved for at least the last few months. Literally reinstalling itself hundreds of(at least a hundred, felt like more) times in that period of time.

So I finally googled it a couple days ago. And just got around to fixing it today. Which appears to have worked. And it couldn't have been easier to do. I feel so stupid to have let it intimidate me for so long.*Oops! Windows 10 Activation issue after reinstallation
Below are links to the thread that I got the fix idea from, and the official MS support info page for KB3119142(from which I quoted the above).

    Windows 10 Activation

    Hi,

The error code 0x80072F8F usually means that the system settings is not properly set up. Since the Internet connection and the date and time is properly set up, we suggest running the Activation troubleshooter to further analyze what's causing
    the issue.

Kindly follow the steps below to use the troubleshooter:

    • Open Settings.
    • Choose Update & security.
    • Click Activation , and then select Troubleshoot.
    • Wait for the troubleshooter to detect the issue and it will provide the appropriate fix for it.

Additionally, we suggest checking this article: Activation in Windows 10.
Kindly check the Activating after reinstalling Windows 10
tab for more information about the issue.

Update us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.
