Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation New Hardware UK

So recently decided to upgrade my old gaming PC and swapped out all the hardware components. I'm not overly knowledgeable on PC stuff. So long story short I swapped out my hardware and no issues until a week or so into the new setup I'm asked to activate windows and try several times over a couple of weeks going through the Troubleshooting and selecting 'I recently changed my hardware' but always got the same message back of 'Windows can't activate right now. Try again later'. I don't have the product key as I bought the system some years ago and got Windows 10 Home through the upgrade years back. Anyone have any idea what I can do to get the product key or how to activate windows before I shell out a chunk of money?

Forgot to mention. sometimes now and then when i load my PC up there no prompt or watermark telling me to activate windows which i find strange.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
