Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation problems

Hello. I had a PC problem that required replacing a Dell 3020M with a Dell 9020M that I purchased on eBay. When I received the Dell 9020M, I moved the memory and HDD from the old machine running Windows 10 Pro to the new machine. After working through the driver errors and updating the PC appeared to work fine until I received a Windows Activation message in notifications.


I tried activating my license key from used for the version of windows on the HDD and I get activation error. I also used a fresh license for Windows 10 Pro and get the same error message. The message displayed after running troubleshooter: We found a Windows 10 Home digital license for this device running Windows 10 Pro. To activate using this digital license, you need to install Windows 10 Home.


I don't want to use the Windows 10 Home license tied to this device. I tried running slmgr at the command prompt with /cpky and /upk, but still get the same message when trying to activate my Windows 10 Pro license. I also tried slmgr /rearm after, restarted and still same message.


How can I get the Windows 10 Home license to not be associated with this device?

How long did you wait for activation?
When I re-installed with a fresh install... it took a few hours to sync and activate.
However, it did, finally, activate.

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.

• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
