Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation Problems

I bought my laptop from my school last year. They said that it came with windows 10 fully installed so I didn't really worry about it. It was fine up until last month where I got an 'Activate windows' pop up message, I didn't worry about it at first until there was a watermark notification at the bottom right hand of my screen. I looked up ways to get rid of it and I came across an article with product keys for different windows 10 products. I used one because people in the comments said it worked but it didn't. Then I decided to buy a real one online so I bought windows 10 home, however after I installed it, it said that there were still activation problems, and when I tried typing in the product key in the settings it said that my product key was invalid also I can't get rid of the sketchy product key I used. I spent over $200 just to rid of that activation pop up and it didn't work. I don't really care for the other features on the Windows 10 home I just wanted to get rid of the pop up and now I lost $200 and my issue has not been fixed. Please help.

How long did you wait for activation?
When I re-installed with a fresh install... it took a few hours to sync and activate.
However, it did, finally, activate.

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
