Windows 10: Windows 10 - Activation Question

Hello Microsoft Community,


I've been the owner of Windows 10 Professional for nearly two years now.

Currently I've been having some problems with activation. I had the error 0xC004F074 for a while until I contacted Microsoft Technical Support, where a lovely man tried to fix it. He entered a different product key but that then gave the error 0xC004C060. After some searching around, I found that this error was caused by entering a different product key than the one embedded in BIOS.

By using an application called ProduKey (which I'm sure you all know about, if not then it's a tool that displays the product keys for every Microsoft application that is installed on a PC including Windows, Internet Explorer, Office etc.) I noticed that the BIOS key was different to the key in Windows 10.

Now, here's my question.


If I enter the product key embedded into BIOS into Windows, will it be properly activated?

it should activate automatically when online
if you want todo a clean install after that simply boot from your windows 10 installation media and when prompted for a key during install/post install select skip ..
it will re-activate within 5M of being online

Mine finally did although it was about 6 or so hours after as it was saying failed to activate.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
