  1. Windows 10 Activation Question

    Hello all,

I plan to be building my first PC sometime in the coming months, and I was trying to figure out something with the logistics of the operating system. I of course am planning on installing Windows 10 on it, but I'm curious as to know if I would be required to purchase a brand new license/copy, or if I can use the license that is already linked to my Microsoft account? I am currently using a factory manufactured laptop which came with Windows 10 preinstalled. I had a mishap with it about a year ago which required me to create one of those boot drives with Windows on it, and how the OS was activated automatically after signing into my MS account and I didn't need to look through any documentation that came with the PC for an activation code. So, I'm wondering, could I do something similar to this with a brand new built from scratch PC? In other words, would my MS account still activate a completely brand new installation of Windows on a new hard drive and BIOS, saving me $100 or so?

    Windows 10 activation question

    do the upgrade
it should activate automatically when online
if you want todo a clean install after that simply boot from your windows 10 installation media and when prompted for a key during install/post install select skip ..
it will re-activate within 5M of being online

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
