Windows 10: Windows 10 activation with no code

Hello everyone!

I have recently replaced my Motherboard and Hard Drive. I installed windows 10 on my new hard drive using a snapshot taken from Microsoft's website. Windows 10 has not automatically activated on my computer, I assume this is because I replaced the Motherboard on my computer.

I have replaced Hard Drives on my computer before and I have been able to install activated versions of Windows 10 on them before.

I no longer have the key code that came with my windows 10 copy. It was a physical copy which i bought 7 years ago and I have no idea where it is.

I already had windows 10 installed on my old hard drive

What I have tried -


Going through the troubleshooter and selecting "I have changed hardware on this device recently", this was a dead end and all I was told was "Unable to activate Windows"




What I haven't tried yet -


Taking my new Hard Drive to another computer with windows 10 on it and trying to activate it by plugging it into that computer and going through the activation process on the different computer.

Phoning the toll-free number to get a new activation key (I haven't done this because I assume I need to give my old activation code, which i no longer have)




What I am sure will work, but would be a "nothing else works" option -


Plugging my old motherboard back into my computer while keeping the same hard drive, then activating windows from there. (I really don't want to do this because that would be a lot of work)

It should be noted that, seeing as my internet is so slow, I have not finished downloading the latest version of windows, it is currently at 53% as of typing this. Windows might activate once windows has been fully updated.

If anyone has any suggestions or checks they think i should perform, please let me know, I would very much like to avoid buying a new copy of windows 10.

Windows 10 will not activate Error code 0x803F7001


Possibly there can be the problem with Microsoft activation Server, so your Windows 10 is not activated. In this scenario, you need to wait and verify if it is the issue from Microsoft’s side. But if you are getting error code 0x803f7001, you can also try these steps:

1. Open Settings app. Then go to Update and security > Activation screen > Change product.
2. Type your Windows edition product key and click Next.
3. You’ll get We couldn’t activate Windows error message.
4. Retry steps 1-3 then type your 25-characters unique product key.
5. Wait for the process to complete, Windows 10 is activated.

here and follow the suggested steps to resolve it. If the error code isn't in the list, kindly send us the exact error code. You may attach a screenshot of the error. By the way, how did you get your copy of Windows 10? I suggest that you refer to this
