Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation

I had the free update of Windows installed. Recently my laptop got some sort of virus. It stopped me from being able to open my settings and the control center stopped working as well. (Perhaps the virus corrupted some file or my antivirus messed with it by accident).


I saw this thing that looked like a watermark on the bottom right saying something about activating windows, however since I had no idea what it meant and I couldn't access my settings anyway I decided not to bother with it.


I had a factory reset done on my laptop and now apparently I don't have a valid digital license.


Is there anyway of finding it or getting it back?

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
