Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation

I have been troubleshooting this issue for a whole hour now, and my patience has been run thin by a combination of me being unable to schedule a callback because it literally wouldn't let me finish scheduling the callback, and incomprehensible tech support. I selected the date, and it left the remainder greyed out, so I could not continue. I attempted to contact customer support via phone number, and was linked to someone whom I had to struggle with to simply understand what she was saying.

In the end, the representative kept asking me to look at the stickers on my CPU to give her a product number, key, I don't even know what she was asking for.

So far, my issue is as thus. I acquired my desktop with windows 7 already installed, upgraded to windows 10, and then changed the hardware, the motherboard specifically. I have a water mark in the lower right screen that's been sitting there for some time, and just decided to finally get rid of it. I never even cared to give it a second glance after all this time, because I shouldn't have to reactivate my copy of windows that I already own and have had active for years.


I have had a tech support, her name was Elise, work on my pc to try and troubleshoot the problem for me. After about a half hour of no progress, she either tried everything she could, or gave up, and directed me to the phone support contact. I tried to explain my situation to the representative I was linked to, but could barely understand what she was saying, and she asked me what the product id of my cpu was. I'm partially certain.


This is as far as I've made it, and I need help reactivating my windows 10. If I'd have known I could simply post this here, I would have foregone everything else.


If anyone has any information that can help me, can you please direct me to the best possible support representative and/or list of steps?


I absolutely refuse to waste money buying a new copy of Windows 10. I already own a copy, I'm not buying another.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
