Windows 10: Windows 10 activation

Purchased a copy of Windows 10 OEM 32 & 64 bit version from Newegg approximately one year ago. I realize it is a 3rd party vendor but the OS disk remained sealed and unused.
When I tried to activate it, I was unable to activate it or get any updates.


Newegg has stated that since it's a year old there is nothing they can do? Is there a time limit on Microsoft OS disks that they do not inform customers about?

Do I have any recourse or I am I simply screwed?

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
