Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation

Hello, I just recently installed windows 10. I owned this PC for about 2 years and i decided to install windows 10 after being on Windows 8.1. I finished installing Windows 10 and everything was working fine it never asked me to activate windows. After i restarted and signed back in i went to my settings to change my background and it said " You need to activate Windows before personalizing your PC". So i googled it and i came across a website explaining how to find my product key https://www.howtogeek.com/660517/how-to-find-your-windows-10-product-key-using-the-command-prompt/ . I followed the websites instructions and i found my product key and i went back to enter it in and it gave me a error saying " Unable to Activate Windows ". I genuinely don't know what happened im only 13 and not very experienced in PC knowledge but i am worried. If someone could help me that would be much appreciated.

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
