Windows 10: Windows 10 and headset mic

Hi!
Just recently built my PC with Windows 10 and was looking to game with a buddy. To my surprise, I was having issues with my wired headset mic. I am using a rather cheap, Amazon Runmus headset that has worked perfect on my Xbox One and PS4.

I don't explicitly know if this is a Windows 10 issue, but, if I can get some kind of help/guidance, I would appreciate it. This has been bothering me.

I plug my mic into the rear mic jack and plug in the USB. In this case, the headset lights turn on and under control panel in sound (recording tab) it shows that I do indeed have a 'high definition audio device' connected to the rear port. Yet nothing. Tried joining a party to chat and nothing and even tried using the voice recorder app.

Can anyone lead me into the right direction, please? I appreciate it in advance!

Laptop won't detect built-in mic on headsets/earbuds

I'm running Windows 10 home on a Lenovo Ideapad laptop, and it doesn't detect the mic on any of my headsets/earbuds. I can hear playback fine on my headsets/earbuds, but it can't speak through them, since it insists on using the laptop's internal mic. This results in my typing/mouse clicks all being captured on audio.

• In sound properties recording tab, I just see "microphone (Realtek high def audio)" and "stereo mix (Realtek high def audio)"
  
• In sound properties playback tab, I just see "speakers (Realtek high def audio)", yet I hear audio fine on my headsets/earbuds?
  
• In device manager, it doesn't detect a headset either, displays the same list as the recording tab

So do all 3 of my headsets/earbuds have some kind of "plug and play but stays invisible to the OS" feature? One of them is the default Apple earbuds, I'm 100% sure there's a mic on there and these are brand new, so they aren't broken. Are these not supposed to appear as a "headset" device with the headset icon in sound properties?

 

G433 Gaming Headset Mic is not working

I have no problem with the audio, only with the mic.

I don't have another headset to check with.

I am having this issue in all games and applications.

• Have you tried using other headsets with mic on your computer and check if it's working fine?
• Have you also tried to insert or use that headset with mic that came with your computer to other computers or devices? This will help us isolate the issue if it's related to your Windows 10 PC or to the headset with mic.
