I think its all valid. I believe there is a heavy trend towards spying to be used both by advertising and by government. Microsoft is just jumping on the bandwagon and officially implying its full steam ahead for everyone else. I believe the flood gates are going to open.

I wont be using Windows 10 and I have since turned off Windows 7 updates. I am a software developer and if I need to test in Windows 10 then I will do so inside a VM with it disconnected from any network, especially the internet.

My personal "feel" of Windows 10 is that it is spyware.

  5. That's not what I thought initially, but after reading 'Bob Rankin's' Newsletter about Windows 10 and it's total lack of privacy, but now, "Spyware" pretty well sums it up.
But....if you're a real software guru, or read enough blogs and newsletters, you can find out how to close up the main security holes in W-10.
I've spent the better part of today, closing security loopholes in two laptops that I updated to Windows 10.

I pity the causal user who winds up with windows 10 on their home computer and are clueless about all the security holes. They might as well put all their private info on big signs and post them on Main Street.
"Come on someone, steal my identity".

I can't believe that Microsoft is doing that to us, its paying customers.
I've been forking over money to Microsoft since around 1980, for upgrades, etc.
I'm not really willing to do that any more. Eh?

    Cheers Mates!

Nice info and thanks for sharing . Though do most people think nowadays its possible to have privacy and I don't mean just your PC but rather in general ? What would people do if every single phone conversation was recorded . Not that I'm saying it is or do I want to sound paranoid but the way I see our world is they're trying really hard if not already to be one world order, were by they can control everyone and everything . Again my view would be whatever happens, happens . We can't have everyone behind bars, now can we ? lol

The word privacy & internet shouldn't be used together IMO

  11. Yep, as rfruth said, internet and privacy are words that shouldn't be used in the same sentence. There is no such thing. Everyone from your ISP, to Microsoft, to google, to apple, to the government, and to the hacker can and will get as much info about you as possible. This is just how the internet works. You can make it difficult for that to be tracked, but at the end of the day, privacy on the internet is almost impossible.

But as for Windows 10, there is data collection mainly by Cortana because she was designed based off real life personal assistants. They NEED to get as much data as they can from their client to make things easier for them and be proactive to let them know what's going on, when to be somewhere, and where things are at so on and so forth. Cortana does the same where you can provide her the info you want to give her so she can be proactive in what she does. Right now, she's pretty simple with telling you when you need to get to work, the traffic conditions and what route to take as well as tracking flights and soon to be packages as well. Probably soon, she'll be able to make "assumptions" so if you search for the Seahawks game scores often, it'll end up in your Cortana list automatically and she'll let you know why it's there too.

Honestly, the sooner you realize your privacy on the internet isn't much of a thing, and even then, I don't know who you are, where you live, what age you are, what your interests are, etc, you're just another string of words on the internet. Microsoft, google too, don't know that info, yet. It's sketchy, yes, and it could be a ploy by Microsoft to collect bulk info on people to dangle in front of the NSA and extort the US government for all they got, because it's Microsoft, either go big or stay home.

I for one, don't really care if Microsoft knows what interests I follow because it's not like other companies and web servers already have that data.
