You shouldn't have to work that hard to make Win 10 'usable'. You really run the risk of breaking it. Something wrong there.

    Example: if you want to use Win 10 as a desktop machine;
    a. Use Classic Shell start menu
    b. Set colours for title bars
    c. Ignore universal apps and tiles - they don't take up much space or CPU time
    d. Enable system restore
    e. As necessary, set up the language (display, speech, region etc)
    f. Install your preferred AV

Don't worry about telemetry and 'phoning home'. Turning things off can lead to error messages in Settings.

You wanted a workaround for a bug- you're lucky I happened fortuitously to notice I had one. So please, be happy- complain to Microsoft if you wish, not the volunteers here.

Exactly the same problem. Some random folders have Left Aligned Text in the icons, while other folders are normal. I tried looking if they had added a setting for formatting or something, but to no avail. These random bugs are so annoying.

After a lengthy auto-update this morning it is happening in file folders and I've tried to work around it but it's driving me crazy... Sorry for the comment with no real content or help, but I just joined in to get notified if there was a fix with the forum.

Hello, have you read the preceding posts? Please see my posts about using Quizo's version of (free) Qttabbar v1038. You can install this but not even enable it to give tabs or whatever colour you want in explorer panes etc and still have the text justification corrected.

Another user has confirmed this works for him.

1 downside, icons in Recent files in explorer are now blank with the anniversary upgrade applied.

Any other solution rather than Qttabbar?

    Yes.
    Use Linux.
    Don't use the anniversary upgrade.
    Use Windows 7 or 8...

I noticed this issue too after upgrading to v1607. I personally prefer the centred text but if this is a change by Microsoft and not a bug then I would like the option of displaying it as it was before. It doesn't look quite right when it is left-justified but that might be just from having got used to the text always being centred across Windows XP, Vista, 8/8.1 and 10 v1511.

Please give feedback to MS on this. The text wrapping as it does e.g.
    PC
    Maintenanc
    e Files

    is messy.

MS's policy seems to be to progressively reduce appearance options.

How long can it take to put something back the way it was?

  14. 3 years and a new OS (e.g. the Start Menu).

Didn't notice at first because I use Tiles as default view for folders (default left justified) and the Desktop looks fine with its centered names under the icons.

Yesterday as I tried to rename a file, the text field centered itself according to the tile width and that drove me up the wall. Short filenames will move to right, to center themselves, long filenames will move to the left and overlap the icons, it's absolutely disgusting.

And to think I was happy with no Windows Update warnings pestering me to grab the Anniversary update, until I did a manual update check...

Please, let me join the group waiting for a fix.
