Windows 10: Windows 10 audio popping problem with realtek audio

I have a Lenovo Ideacentre T540

For a couple of weeks I've had an audio popping issue after a Realtek update around the beginning of the month. The popping was most obvious on youtube videos where I could hear a crackling pop sound just before the video started. If I paused the video and waited for about 3 seconds there would be another pop and when I hit play again there would be another pop (If I hit pause/play quickly the pop wasn't there).

The popping and crackling also happened elsewhere for example opening new tabs in browser, restarting the computer, moving the windows volume slider etc.

I tried three different headphones and two sets of speakers and the problem was always there.

I eventually ran Ubuntu from a flash drive and the audio was normal so this is obviously a windows problem.

I finally got rid of the problem by following the instructions in this post.

Today I got a new Realtek Semiconductor Corp. update and the popping came back. I manage to fix it (at least for now) the same way.

Does anyone else have the same issue? Any idea what is causing this?

Everyone that post ids, need just do these steps and you will be good. I kinda tired of keep on uploading the inf. file

1.Go Open up device manager
2. Go under sound,video, and game controllers
3. Find Realtek High Definition Audio
4. Right click and hit update driver
5. Browse my computer for driver software
6. Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
7. Click Have Disk and hit browse
8. Click on the Realtek HD Audio mod folder and look for win64
9. Click on the HDXRT4 and click ok,
10. Click Next and Yes
additional if you want dts audio and others, install it now before next step.
After it is done, restart the PC

You should be good then and also make sure before doing these steps that you have driver enforcement disabled.
