Windows 10: Windows 10 Audio & Realtek drivers - work then not work, sound setup fixes but problem...

Seems with the latest Windows 10 updates I am having problems with my audio - particularly for playing music from itunes and when playing games (e.g. Fortnite).

I have noted that sound settings > troubleshoot does fix the problem but the solution does not remain in place.

I have noted sometimes that when I log onto all other accounts on the PC then explicitly log off then on my account audio works again - but not always.


Settings all seem correct and I have disabled other audio devices that may be causing confusion (potential user error).


I am using "Realtek High Definition Audio".

All outputs and inputs under Settings > App Volume Device Settings are set to Default.


Is this a new bug in the windows 10 update?

Any ideas to put in place a persistent solution?


I have 64 bit version of Windows 10 Pro version 1809.

Intel I5-7600K running at 3.8GHz

16GB RAM

Nvidia GForce GTX 1070

Storage:

• 250GB Deskstar hard disk
• NVMe Samsung SSD 960
• Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB
• Seagate 1.5TB Barracuda hard disk

Delete ‪C:\Windows\System32\DTSAPOUI64.dll, install again
If error still popup, just click ignore and run cmd as admin -> type regsvr32 DTSAPOUI64.dll

Or just load W10_Custom_CT_Dolby_UWP_DTS_Render.ini for DTS Audio + Sound BlasterX 720 + Realtek Audio Effects + Dolby UWP

I had the realtek error when using the installer, so I did these step and It Worked

1.Go Open up device manager
2. Go under sound,video, and game controllers
3. Find Realtek High Definition Audio
4. Right click and hit update driver
5. Browse my computer for driver software
6. Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
7. Click Have Disk and hit browse
8. Click on the Realtek HD Audio mod folder and look for win64
9. Click on the HDXRT4 and click ok,
10. Click Next and Yes
After it is done, restart the PC

You should be good then and also make sure before doing these steps that you have driver enforcement disabled.
