Windows 10: Windows 10 Backup 'Freezes' when Progress Gets to 97%

Hello, for the past 6 weeks, I have had problems backing up my laptop, with the whole laptop 'freezing' after about 97% completion!

Toshiba C55 8Gb memory, 1Tb hard drive

Windows 10 ver1909 10.18363.900.



Raised query with MS:

advised run

sfc /scannow

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

chkdsk c: /f /r /x I also ran this on my d: drive external hard drive [3 hours!], the destination for my backups There were no 'freezing' incidents while doing this.

Last resort, if the above did not work - Reset PC!



As all the above gave positive results, I went, reluctantly for Reset PC.

It took me 3 days to get my laptop back to how I had it set up before!

This was on 20th May.

There were no problems, and backup worked OK for a couple of weeks, but I spent 3 attempts to do my weekly backup yesterday, and each time, it froze.

Can you help/advise me, please?

Backup and restore freezes at 97% on Windows 10

When I try to backup my system it freezes at 97% right before it would complete the system image. I can make a system image by itself from the other backup option but it still freezes on the normal backup and restore Windows 7 in Windows 10. Any help would
be appreciated.

 

Win 10 pro 64 bit backup freezes at 97%

My backup freezes at 97% complete on both my desktop and laptop both have a remote drive attached to which I use to store all backup and image files to. what is the fix? am using win 10 pro 64 bit tried using control panel but it also freezes at 97% during
image backup? found win 10 only allows daily backup but control panel has weekly so I set both to daily backup why do they have win 10 settings different than control panel and which has first place to work? both remote drives are 256GB and larger so they
have the space to hold backup and image.

Hi Marvin,

As you have mentioned that while performing back up you are getting error message
“disk does not have sufficient space for the backup”, so I suggest you to follow the steps from the below article to free up the drive space. Then try to perform backup and check if it helps.
