Windows 10: WIndows 10 Bad System Config Info and no RegBack available.

So before I start, I would like to say that I really hope Microsoft brings back in house testing because I really feel like too many bugs are becoming rampant and go unnoticed until it affects too many PCs.


Anyways, here is my issue:


The day before this happened I did install some programs on my machine, then after a restart and making sure software was installed I put it on hibernate to save some browser tabs. The next day when I turned it on the computer got stuck at the lock screen. No mouse or keyboard was working. I thought maybe Windows was just acting up and I couldn't get it to work so I reset it (reset switch = power off/power on). It booted up fine but when I got to the lock screen, it got stuck again with no mouse or keyboard and a crossed out wifi symbol. I tried resetting (both with reset and power switch) multiple times until I ended up at the BSOD on boot with "Bad System Config Info" error. I thought maybe it was the program I installed, and luckily I knew I had actually made a restore point before. So I booted up to the troubleshoot screen with the shift key and selected to restore to the recovery point. This however failed with an error. I ended up trying literally every other option except reset without saving files with no luck. I eventually decided to follow a guide to try and restore the registry files from the RegBack folder. Unfortunately, I was running windows 1809 which (along with 1803) has a serious bug that fails to back up the registry to the RegBack folder. I'm pretty certain the registry files became corrupt and that's why it won't boot. I also tried using bootrec but that didn't work either. My question is is there any other way I can restore the registry files or get my computer working without completely reinstalling and/or resetting because I have finals coming up and I really need it for an animation project and It will take me more time to reinstall windows and the needed programs with files.

Samsung Evo 970 500 GB SSD (Boot drive)

1 TB Western Digital Blue Hard Drive (which contains media folders from windows and other programs)

Intel i5 6600k

8 GB DDR4-2400 RAM

A CD drive

8 GB USB that I've been using to troubleshoot

Wireless adapter

ASRock Motherboard

Zotac GTX 750ti

Programs installed: Source Filmmaker and Windows Movie Maker

Fix The Windows Registry

Boot from a Windows 10 USB/DVD and launch Command Prompt. It is better to use the DVD for this purpose. After that, follow these instructions:

• Use the following command:
  
  CD C:\Windows\System32\config
  
  (here C is the partition where Windows is installed).
• Enter the following commands one by one to rename these files with the .old postfix:
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\DEFAULT DEFAULT.old
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SAM SAM.old
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SECURITY SECURITY.old
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE SOFTWARE.old
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM SYSTEM.old
• Enter the following commands one by one to copy registry backup files to your current registry folder. This completes the manual restoration of your computer’s registry.
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\DEFAULT C:\Windows\System32\config\
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SAM C:\Windows\System32\config\
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SECURITY C:\Windows\System32\config\
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SYSTEM C:\Windows\System32\config\
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SOFTWARE C:\Windows\System32\config\

 

Bad system config info and failure to launch windows 10

Windows 10 on a Dell XPS about 1.5 yrs old

turned machine on and got the Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart; bad system config info.

Went through the multiple suggestions to fix, repair or restore but none of them were successful. Seemed to get a consistent response that a problem was encountered and therefore no the problem couldn’t be resolved.

Under troubleshoot attempted the prompt command option. The message under the Microsoft Windows [version 10.0.17134.1] said not enough resources available to process this command.

I found a video on youtube to address the bad system config info issue and followed the steps as presented.

After going through that process my system still won’t boot up.

there apprared to be enough free space on C.

My windows 10 fail to boot up and show BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO

i try to fix the Fix the Windows Registry by the following( my hard disk is G

what should do next? I do not want to restore my computer which I do not want to loss all the software and data on the computer
