Windows 10: windows 10 basic display driver resolution options

I purchased a desktop and an ultra wide monitor (2560x1080), and the max resolution option is 1280 x 1024 with all resolutions stretching to the display to the screen obscuring it visually.


The driver in the system is "microsoft basic display driver" version 10.0.17134.1 Updating the drivers does nothing, as it says it's all up to date. It also doesn't allow me to uninstall the drivers or try to revert to an older version (these options are blanked out). I've searched quite a bit and found nothing that works.



Any advice? Also - is there the possibility that my computer just isn't capable of accommodating for that resolution?

My tower is: HP Pro 6005 SFF AMD athlon II X2 B28 3.40GHz, 16GB DDR3, Windows 10 Pro 64 Bits

Microsoft Basic Display Driver Urgent

As you should be aware Intel just recently announced on twitter (search gma3600) that there will be no windows 10 drivers for the gma 3600 video cards. Now as default windows loads the Microsoft Basic Display Driver which works really well but limits the
screen to 800x600 max. The system i'm using is a 1025c asus n2800 netbook with a 1024x600 screen. I've seen other users on here referencing that the Microsoft Basic Display Driver works at 1024x768 and above but seems fixed on 4:3 aspect ratio selections.
These observations suggest to me that the driver can happily go above 800x600 but 1024x600 is just an unsupported resolution for the Microsoft Basic Display Driver. Which brings me finally to my request.

Could you please add 1024x600 to the Microsoft Basic Display Driver as a valid selectable resolution so everyone who uses a 1024x600 screen with a gma3600 can run windows 10?

Addendum:

After some testing trying to load multiple windows 7 gma3600 drivers all of them result in a bsod or the drivers just do not load. Please microsoft 15 people so far have voted this question up. This Microsoft Basic Display Driver tweak is the only option
for gma36XX users and there will be lots more out there. If you want windows 10 adoption things like this are deal breakers.

 

Display driver not supporting and device manager not showing Display adapter option

This issue could have occurred due to these reasons:

• Incorrect settings.
• Corrupt or outdated display driver.

Try the steps listed here and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to download and install all the available Windows Updates including Optional Updates. Check if it helps.

Method 2:

If the issue persists, i suggest you to uninstall and re-install latest display driver from the computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.

Step 1: Uninstall display driver.

• Right-click on the Start Button and click on
  Device manager.
• Double-click on Display Adapters to expand.
• Right-click on the display adapter driver that is listed and select properties.
• In the window opened, click on drivers tab.
• In the drivers tab, Click on Uninstall option.

Now restart your computer and check, if the problem persists try step 2.

Step 2:

Re-install display driver from the manufacturer website.

Laptop Screen Resolution Windows 10

Hi,

We suggest you to update the Display Adapter Drivers.

Step 1: Update the Display Adapter driver.

• Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.
• Select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapter.
• Right on the Display Adapter and click on Update driver software.

Step 2: Kindly follow the below steps to change the resolution of the screen and check:

• 
  Type Change screen resolution in the Search box from the desktop.
  
• 
  Under Resolution search for the Recommended resolution and click on Apply.
  
• 
  A windows pops up saying "Keep these display settings", then select Keep changes.
  

There will be a recommended resolution for all the computers, and if you select more than the recommended resolution the screen would not support for that.
