  1. Windows 10 Boot Issue after ReInstallation

Strange issue that has me stumped so far . . .

TLDR: Wishing to boot to a fresh install of Windows 10 Home on SSD A . . . . but SSD B needs to be powered up in order to do so!
TLDR 2: Is there a utility that will allow me to create a Bootloader on the new SSD whilst bypassing the original Bootloader on the failing drive?

    Longer version . . .

PC had been working perfectly with SSD B as the original boot drive with a secondary spinning HDD for data. Original SSD B starts showing signs of failure by repairing disk errors prior to booting in to Win10. At this stage I am still unsure if the SSD is actually failing or not.

One particular boot, Windows fails to load multiple times, so decide on a Repair option of uninstalling the last Windows Update Feature Update 2004. This then sets the PC in to a Reboot that it cannot recover from . . . so now probably a combo of failing SSD & unable to uninstall last Update.

Now install new SSD A & install Windows 10 from a bootable USB (Latest Win10 Home with 2004 Feature Update) . . . Note original SSD B is connected at this stage.

It is at this stage I realise the original drive needs to be connected in order to boot to Windows on the new drive. Disconnecting old drive or fiddling with Boot Order in BIOS will not resolve this. Even going in to the Boot tab of msconfig, where it shows entries for Windows on both drives & deleting entry for the failed drive doesn't fix this.

So currently on boot up I get a boot message to ask me which installation to boot in to. Default being the new install. If I boot in to the other failed drive it goes back into the original reboot cycle.

So to summarise I would obviously like to be able to boot to the new drive with the failed drive removed from the system. Easy answer is to carry out a fresh install to the new drive, but having carried out more than 10 hours of downloading software to the new installation I'd rather not. I am also curious as to whether this is fixable.

TLDR 2: Is there a utility that will allow me to create a Bootloader on the new SSD whilst bypassing the original Bootloader on the failing drive?

    :)

    windows 10 slow boot

I was having a slow boot issue on my Windows 7 install a little while back. It would take about 30 - 40 extra seconds to boot up for whatever reason.

I would try following these steps, while this didn't solve my issue, it did increase Read/Write to where it should be.

In the end, I had to reinstall my Windows 7 entirely to fix the booting issue. It was taking around 35 seconds to boot, and after the fresh install it takes about 7 seconds to boot.

[Solved] Windows 10 keeps reinstalling KB3119142

I noticed quite some time ago that KB3119142 (Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package) kept reinstalling itself for some reason. At least once daily. Sometimes up to several times a day. I just ignored it. It didn't seem to be doing any harm. And I figured they'd eventually fix it. Well...days turned into weeks, weeks into months, with no end to the problem in sight. It dragged on unsolved for at least the last few months. Literally reinstalling itself hundreds of(at least a hundred, felt like more) times in that period of time.

So I finally googled it a couple days ago. And just got around to fixing it today. Which appears to have worked. And it couldn't have been easier to do. I feel so stupid to have let it intimidate me for so long.*Oops! Windows 10 Boot Issue after ReInstallation
Below are links to the thread that I got the fix idea from, and the official MS support info page for KB3119142(from which I quoted the above).

    Windows 10 USB boot

Hi there, am not a windows 10 expert. I have a pc in the bedroom on windows 10, I messed up the bootloader trying to fix the xp on that system.

System wont boot, trying to repair via win 10 usb installer.

Downloaded the media creation tool to install windows 10 installer on usb stick. Not compatible with a host of usb sticks I have. Tried the usb sticks that others use, but I think they use rufus; as the media creation tool by win 10 does not detect the usb stick.

So quick question, the win10 machine i am trying to repair the bootloader is a win7 upgraded to win10.
If i were to use the usb win10 installer to "repair installation" does the version of the iso downloaded via the media creation tool matter?

    There is three options:
    Windows 10
    Windows 10 Home
    Windows 10 N

Also is there a step by step instead of using rufus as I want to try an alternative method of creating a usb win 10 installer. Preferably with more compatibility.

    System is a asus sabertooth 990 (r2?) with AMD phenom X 6.

Also is there any other software I can load onto the usb that can repair the bootloader easily?
That would be the ideal alternative. Thanks
