Windows 10: Windows 10 Boot Issue / Reset

Hi guys,

I have recently been using my computer, which I've had for over a year now, and on Friday 24th, I noticed that my computer started running a little laggy and certain apps would randomly close, e.g. Firefox. When checking Task manager I spotted I was running at 90+% on CPU, which is rare as I barely run much unless gaming and can usually sit at around 40-50%, running 16GB ram.


It wasn't until I decided to restart my machine and it refused to boot, did I suspect Windows Updates.


I used to have my WiFi metered but since moving to Ethernet, I totally forgot to limit the updates. Luckily I had a Restore point before a recent Cumulative update so got back in and had a google. I had a few updates from March/April that had been flagged as bad on the forums and I tried following the instructions on removing certain updates. This worked for a couple and all looked good, machine didn't seem too bad but then I hit 2 updates that, when removing and restarting, were still present in the Windows Update list :


After another restart, no booting, Windows Repair only offered me a Reset which I had to oblige to.


So Saturday / Sunday morning all looks good, still no luck removing those updates but PC was running at 40-50% on CPU. Unluckily for me, after installing Geforce Experience and updating the drivers, the required restart took me back to the Boot Loop. Another Reset was teh only available option.


So guys, Just got back in, installed firefox and asking for some help.


The following updates are currently installed on my machine after my Reset and I as wondering what are my steps, if any, to resolve these failed Boots?

TLDR; I'm getting Booting issues even after removing Bad Updates, resulting in Windows Reset's being the only savior. What are my options to getting back to normal or at least reverting back to a stable version of Windows?

EDIT: I haven't removed any updates since the machine Reset, around 20 minutes ago, just waiting for advice first

windows 10 slow boot

I was having a slow boot issue on my Windows 7 install a little while back. It would take about 30 - 40 extra seconds to boot up for whatever reason.

I would try following these steps, while this didn't solve my issue, it did increase Read/Write to where it should be.

In the end, I had to reinstall my Windows 7 entirely to fix the booting issue. It was taking around 35 seconds to boot, and after the fresh install it takes about 7 seconds to boot.

 

Windows 10 issues!

I had a similar issue but it only happen on older hardware, Windows would install the stock drivers which would make it nearly impossible to access the internet. Luckily I had newest Intel and Realtek NIC drivers that ran perfectly on Win 10 x64 1607 version, installing those fixed my that problem.

This also can happen on a non-fresh install of WIn 10, when you try to boot from a different computer/motherboard, after a single failed boot, Windows will try to re-detect and re-install all of the drivers, which definitely won't be the most stable or newest.

I tried everything, flushing cache, resetting router, uninstalling the device completely from the list, removing the LAN connection entirely, none of those helped.

 

Windows 10 USB boot

Hi there, am not a windows 10 expert. I have a pc in the bedroom on windows 10, I messed up the bootloader trying to fix the xp on that system.

System wont boot, trying to repair via win 10 usb installer.

Downloaded the media creation tool to install windows 10 installer on usb stick. Not compatible with a host of usb sticks I have. Tried the usb sticks that others use, but I think they use rufus; as the media creation tool by win 10 does not detect the usb stick.

So quick question, the win10 machine i am trying to repair the bootloader is a win7 upgraded to win10.
If i were to use the usb win10 installer to "repair installation" does the version of the iso downloaded via the media creation tool matter?

There is three options:
Windows 10
Windows 10 Home
Windows 10 N

Also is there a step by step instead of using rufus as I want to try an alternative method of creating a usb win 10 installer. Preferably with more compatibility.

System is a asus sabertooth 990 (r2?) with AMD phenom X 6.

Also is there any other software I can load onto the usb that can repair the bootloader easily?
That would be the ideal alternative. Thanks
