    Windows 10 boot up problem.

    Hello,

For the past several months I have been experiencing a strange intermittent problem with Windows booting up. Initially it manifests as a delay in booting to the login screen. The PC will post then display "Loading operating system..." before going black with a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner of the screen. The cursor then disappears and the screen will remain black for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. It will then display the Windows logon screen as normal.

The first time this happened, once Windows had loaded, one of my hard drives in particular would display as being in a RAW state. Sometimes this would revert back to normal if the PC was shutdown and the cable removed and replaced or swapped out for a different one. When this eventually stopped working I was able to perform a data recovery on the drive then format it and run diagnostics before copying all the information back. After the 3rd occasion with multiple drives reverting to a RAW state and after a completely fresh installation of Windows 10 I assumed it was a faulty motherboard as all SATA cables had also been replaced. The board was sent back to the retailer who tested it and confirmed that it was not working.

However, since installing a new motherboard which was initially performing well the same problem started happening again. On carrying out some further research it was suggested that the PSU may not be powerful enough to run the 6 HDDs, 2 optical drives and the Sapphire Radeon HD6950 GPU. This seemed to be confirmed when the PSU eventually died. This has also since been replaced with a 750W modular PSU that was chosen after entering my hardware configuration onto the CoolerMaster website and receiving suggestions of which PSUs were suitable.

Again for around 2 to 3 weeks Windows was running well but I have now started experiencing the same 15 to 20 minute delay in booting up. I have disconnected all drives apart from the OS disk but this does not help. I have cloned my OS disk and booted from that one with the same behaviour apparent. Other than carrying out another fresh install of Windows which I don't think will help anyway I am at a loss as to what is causing this behaviour. Booting into Safe Mode does not alleviate it and the disk has passed several further diagnostics. None of the HDDs have reverted to RAW (so far). Once Windows does eventually boot it seems to run satisfactorily until the next time it's restarted.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

    windows 10 boot problems

I had windows 10 installed on my old laptop, I also had a boot problem, but my HDD just stopped spinning and I was unable to load windows.
It still had the Asus factory recovery partition which I used to reinstall windows 7.
I found out that my HDD was fine in windows 7, nothing wrong with it, staying with windows 7 SP1 on this laptop and I stay with windows 8.1 on my main laptop.
    No windows 10 for me!

    Windows 10 USB boot

Hi there, am not a windows 10 expert. I have a pc in the bedroom on windows 10, I messed up the bootloader trying to fix the xp on that system.

System wont boot, trying to repair via win 10 usb installer.

Downloaded the media creation tool to install windows 10 installer on usb stick. Not compatible with a host of usb sticks I have. Tried the usb sticks that others use, but I think they use rufus; as the media creation tool by win 10 does not detect the usb stick.

So quick question, the win10 machine i am trying to repair the bootloader is a win7 upgraded to win10.
If i were to use the usb win10 installer to "repair installation" does the version of the iso downloaded via the media creation tool matter?

    There is three options:
    Windows 10
    Windows 10 Home
    Windows 10 N

Also is there a step by step instead of using rufus as I want to try an alternative method of creating a usb win 10 installer. Preferably with more compatibility.

    System is a asus sabertooth 990 (r2?) with AMD phenom X 6.

Also is there any other software I can load onto the usb that can repair the bootloader easily?
That would be the ideal alternative. Thanks
