Windows 10: Windows 10 bugs

Netflix is working fine here, I can't test Sky Go as I've used up all my devices with the ipads.

I'll try and uninstall both the NETFLIX and SKY GO apps plus clear out data and cache and have another go -- the problem with testing SKY GO is that I don't want to run out of computers - I've got TWO (one on a phone and one on a tablet) and one on another laptop -- you can only have 4 and 1 change per month so I have to test carefully.

If that doesn't work I'll try a CLEAN W10 install - I did an update for this current install. X-64 version.

BT sport though works just fine - same VPN.

Running the installation in compatibility mode resulted in more errors in the application event logs:

Silverlight UNINSTALL, re-boot and then re-logon to SKY GO worked fine. Prompt to install SILVERLIGHT - then worked OK NETFLIX also working again. (Same VPN as previous one).

Note though SKY GO will re-register your computer again as a NEW DEVICE so be careful you don't exceed the device limit.

It seems that the "Server not found..." error messages caused by DNS queries.

Event ID 1014, DNS client events:

There are a ton of events with this ID in the system log. Is the "wpad" web proxy auto discovery service?

I changed the proxy settings for Firefox from using system settings to no proxy, just in case...

 

Has anybody tried SFC /SCANNOW?

I have and it find problems and can't fix them.
Is that because it's a Preview version?

This is a fresh install; not a upgrade. (ISO)

 

Yeah right, that's how I always do it. But here it does not do anything for Lucida Console fonts.

 

Yes, fresh install from ISO running in Wmvare:

 

On x86 install I had a major issue with LibreOffice in using CPU resources due to a running "dll32 process". Makes the system unusable.

An old Epson DX4050 3 in 1 installed perfectly.

Other programs that appear OK,

Audacity plus plug ins, Foobar 2000, Diptrace, InSSider and IrfanView.

BIG IRRITANT -- finally I seem to have a genuine bug.
Menu once shrunk can't be re-sized again (at least not by me)

so now I have a ridiculously small size menu !!! (at least on my system) -- running on a REAL (not a VM) system.

Try removing the right hand side tiles and then pulling up the menu from the top edge.

 

Restoring windows created images doesn't seem to work. I've tried with both newly created image and old image. It gives me this pop up:





But macrium images work 100%. I tested restoring from Win 10 back to Win 7 using image restoration. Macrium works but not the native windows image restoration utility.

Can someone please confirm and do an image restoration test using windows created images?

What annoys me most is that my 150% DPI setting is not being applied throughout the sytem - e,g, the start menu. That makes it difficult for me to operate due to my very poor eyesight.

 

I thought mine wasn't working until I realised that you need to drag it by a tile height before it resizes. Sort of makes sense.

 

Sometimes task bar context menu appears behind it, hiding the Lock and properties options.
