Windows 10: Windows 10 Build 1809, Build 1903 - Windows setup could not configure one or more system...

I have a Gateway LX-6810 running Windows 10 Home with all original components. It has survived two in-place upgrades, from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and from Windows 7 to Windows 10.


I have an issue that has prevented my machine from updating to Windows 10 Build 1809. Now that Build 1903 has been released, I'm instead attempting to update to it and am encountering the same issue. Currently, my machine is running Build 1803.


The updates download and install, reaching 100% in Windows 10. Then when the machine restarts and attempts to configure updates, it reaches 60% at which time the system throws an error "Windows setup could not configure one or more system components." The update halts, the system reboots, and it recovers the prior installation of Windows.


For 1809, I actually downloaded and attempted to install the ISO from Microsoft on a DVD and pulled the Network plug on the system. The following error occurred, "We couldn't install Windows 10. 0xC1900101 – 0x30018; The Installation Failed In The FIRST_BOOT Phase with an error during SYSPREP_SPECALIZE operation."


I've followed the steps in these articles:

I've also run DriverEasy and all my drivers are current.


In my last attempt, I unplugged every device except the hard drive, optical drive, and video card, keeping obviously anything onboard.

Windows 1809 or 1903 build on newly recivied USB from Msoft USA

Good Morning,

I have just received only yesterday 30 May 2019 from Microsoft USA my new version of Windows 10 Pro for new PC build.

I am preparing for install and noted that there is a new build version of Windows 10 i.e. 1903 available.

Will my newly received USB version of windows 10 Pro be 1809 or 1903 build version of Windows 10 Pro?
