Windows 10 Build 18234 is out for Insiders with improvements and fixes

Windows 10 Build 18234 is now available for Insiders who have enrolled in the Skip Ahead Ring. The latest Windows 10 19H1 preview build comes with general improvements and bug fixes.

Windows 10 Build 18234 is another minor update as far as the features are concerned but it comes with a long list of fixes and improvements for the bugs that have been bothering the users over last three weeks.

    What’s new in Windows 10 Build 18234

    • Microsoft To Do is getting Ink support in the latest build. Microsoft has added support for handwritten input which now allows you to do your tasks seamlessly in the Microsoft To Do app with version 1.39.1808.31001 and above.
    • Sticky Notes: Microsoft is improving the Sticky Notes 3.0 which was rolled out last week.
    • Snip and Sketch: There was a bug in Build 18219 blocking the new button from working. With today’s build, the bug has been fixed and you can now click on the chevron next to the New button in the app.
    Fixes and improvements

    • An issue, where the logging out of users profile occurred in previous flights, has now been fixed in this build.
    • The issue resulting in hangs when using WSL in the previous flight has been fixed in this build.
    • Windows Team updated the Emoji Panel which now supports search and tooltips for Emoji 11 emoji added recently.
    • An issue where the explorer.exe would crash if in Tablet Mode has now been fixed.
    • Issues, where the app icons in Task View appeaed slightly blurry on high DPI devices, has finally been fixed.
    • Insiders reported issue where they got an error saying no support app is installed when clicking activities in Timeline has now been fixed.
    • An issue, where the Taskbar background became transparent when changing graphics device, has now been fixed.
    • Microsoft has made some adjustments to improve the amount of CPU that cdpusersvc users.
    • The issue resulting in New button in Snip & Sketch not working has now been fixed.
    • The issue which resulted in a lot of time taken to open large files in Notepad when word wrap was enabled has now been fixed.
    • An issue where downloading a big file in Microsoft Edge would stop at the 4gb mark has finally been fixed.
    • Windows Team fixed an issue where text copied from certain websites in Microsoft Edge couldn’t be pasted into other UWP apps.
    • Insiders using Windows 10 in S Mode recently reported that opening Word from a Word Online document did not work. This has now been fixed in the latest flight.
    • We fixed an issue resulting in a decrease in Start reliability over the last few flights.
    • Insiders reported the crashing of Cortana in previous flights when launching tips has now been fixed.
    • The issue causing Office in the Store to fail to launch with an error about a .dll not being designed to run on Windows on PCs running in S Mode has now been fixed.

There is a long list of fixes pushed out in this build for Skip Ahead Insiders. As is always the case with Insider builds there are also some known issues which need to be gone through before updating to this build. You can find the known issues below:

    • The Ease of Access Make Text bigger setting, you might see text clipping issues, or find that text is not increasing in size everywhere.
    • When using Narrator Scan mode Shift + Selection commands in Edge, the text does not get selected properly.
    • Narrator sometimes does not read in the Settings app when you navigate using Tab and arrow keys. Try switching to Narrator Scan mode temporarily. Alternatively, you can restart Narrator to work around this issue.
    • Clicking on web links in PWAs such as Twitter doesn’t open the browser.
    • The background of notifications and the Action Center lose color and become transparent (with an acrylic effect). Microsoft is currently working on a fix and it should be fixed in upcoming flights.

As is always recommended by us, make sure to download the Insiders build on a secondary machine for testing. You can get the latest build by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates if you are enrolled in Skip Ahead Ring.

Get a Windows 10 licence for free if you register on Windows Insider

from Gabe Aul today : http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwi...changes-to-windows-10-insider-preview-builds/

well from the sounds of it, anyone who UPGRADED to windows 10 Preview wont have to do anything as it already has your Serial win 7/8.1 key logged.

The crux of it is this:

    • Do you want to continue as a Windows Insider and keep getting preview builds after 7/29?
    • Or do you want to upgrade your Genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 system that has been getting Windows 10 Insider Preview builds to the 7/29 release and stop being an Insider?
“I want to continue as a Windows Insider!” If you want to continue as a Windows Insider past 7/29 there is nothing you need to do. You’re already opted in and receiving builds in the Fast or Slow ring depending upon your selection. This is prerelease software and is activated with a prerelease key. Each individual build will expire after a time, but you’ll continue to receive new builds so by the time an older prerelease build expires you’ll have received a new one. Since we’re continuing the Windows Insider Program you’ll be able to continue receiving builds and those builds will continue to be activated under the terms of the Windows Insider Program. We provide ISOs for these builds for recovery from any significant problems, but they are still pre-release software. As part of the program we’ll upgrade Insiders to what is for all intents and purposes the same build as what other customers will get on 7/29, but that will be just another build for Insiders, and those who stay in the program will simply get the next build after as well.

“I want to opt out of the Windows Insider Program on 7/29.” If you decide to opt-out of the program and upgrade to the 7/29 build you will be subject to exactly the same terms and conditions that govern the offer* that was extended to all Genuine Windows 7 and 8.1 customers. This is not a path to attain a license for Windows XP or Windows Vista systems. If your system upgraded from a Genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 license it will remain activated, but if not, you will be required to roll back to your previous OS version or acquire a new Windows 10 license. If you do not roll back or acquire a new license the build will eventually expire.

It is our hope that the vast majority of Windows Insiders who have been with us since we announced the program last year will continue forward, and it was in that light that we authored the blog post about upcoming changes to the program. I regret that this caused confusion about who was or was not eligible for the Windows 10 upgrade offer, but hope that this helps to clarify.

    Thanks,
    g
