Successfully updated from 9860 to 9879 on 12/01/14. Don't know why it worked this time, since Win10 has not been booted since the failure on 11/25/14.

BTW, after the failure, it automatically reverted back to 9860.

Good to see the Build Number on the download page. That, in itself, is an improvement.

Now to see if 9879 will install over updated 9860. It failed on 11/25/14.

 

Downloading and Updating now *Wink, Looking forward to some new features and this build also has the choice of whether you want new Builds "Fast or Slow" (See the Adding a ring: section) in the link Brink posted.

 

It is probably not necessary to let others know. . .they are probably like you and me; their doing it now. Enjoy. . .*Thumbs

Install now. This is easy enough so far. No reboot yet. *Party

 

I thought I can do that, too, totally forgetting this:





My Users folder is sysprepped to E:. Must first backup and empty all user profile folders to external drive to get them as empty as possible, then sysprep Users back to C:, upgrade to build 9860, then sysprep Users back to E: again.

BTW you geeks who have used any method, the sysprep method I use or something else to move the main profile folder Users or any individual user profiles from C: to another location, all system folders have to be moved back to C: in order to be able to upgrade.

An extra 15 minutes of work but what the hell, I am a geek and love it *Wink.

I'm all done, it looks like everything is where it's supposed to be.
I was worried that I might have to start all over again, but it seems to have picked up all my software etc.

The whole process from when I started downloading seems to have taken 47 minutes.

Not too bad, I'll go look around now and see what's new.

Ps. How do I keep the image from showing up twice.
Both in the post and as an attachment?

 

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question *Redface ... but how do you apply the sysprep process on an update build? (I'm trying to understand the sysprep process, rather than moving my Users folder.)

Can you update the build while in Audit mode?
