Windows 10: Windows 10 button not working

I am really computer illiterate, 72 years old, and desperately need help, but it has to be in simple, easy to follow language. The Windows 10 button on my computer does not work anymore. I have only had the computer since February, but, from reading and not understanding what was being offered, it seems that this is a common problem with Windows 10. With my limited knowledge and understanding, I am now in a panic. Please can someone give me a solution,?

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
