How to use the deg and dms buttons on the Windows 10 calculator.

To display the deg and dms buttons, put the calculator into Scientific mode, and click the up arrow (↑) button.

The format for entering and displaying coordinates using degrees, minutes and seconds is DD.MMSSssss where:

DD = number of degrees MM = number of minutes SSsss = number of seconds (optional, may be omitted)
If the number of minutes is a single digit, the single digit must be preceded by a zero.
SS is the integer portion of the number of seconds. If the integer portion is a single digit, it must be preceded by a zero.

ssss is the decimal portion of the number of seconds, if any.

Once you have entered the number of degrees, minutes and seconds using this format; you can press the deg button to convert the number to decimal degrees.

If you want to add or subtract a degrees, minutes and seconds number to or from another degrees, minutes and seconds number; enter the first number, press the deg button to convert it to decimal degrees, press the + or button, enter another degrees, minutes and seconds number, press the deg button to convert the second number to decimal degrees, press the = button, and then press the dms button to convert the answer back to a number that is displayed in the degrees, minutes and seconds format. (The keyboard shortcut for the dms button is M.)

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. Window's 10 Calculator won't launch

    Hi Dan,

There could be a number of factors as to why you are having issues launching the Calculator app on Windows 10. This could be caused by a software conflict or due to the application itself.

You may consider resetting the Calculator app. To do this, refer to the steps below:

    • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & feature.
    • Click the Calculator app from the list and then choose Advanced options.
    • Click Reset.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you create a new user account. This is for us to check if the issue is due to a corrupted user profile. To do this, select the Start button, then select
Settings > Accounts > Family & other people > Add someone else to this PC.

Let us know how it goes and we'll assist you further if needed.

    Windows 10 Calculator

    Hi,

Some of the reasons why the calculator app will not work properly are: the program encountered a corrupted system files, virus and malware, and another application is conflicting with it.

We suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the calculator. In doing so, you will have a fresh copy of the application which will eliminate the issue. Here are the steps:

    • Right-click on the Start menu.
    • Choose Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Allow the application to make changes, Type in Powershell then, click
      Enter.
    • Type in Get-AppxPackage *windowscalculator* | Remove-AppxPackage then, click
      Enter.
    • Type in Get-AppxPackage *windowscalculator* | Add-AppxPackage then, click
      Enter.
    • Restart the computer after the process and try accessing the menu of the calculator.
Don't hesitate to provide your feedback.
