Windows 10: Windows 10 Camera App only records 1 second video

I recently got an HP Spectre 360 with Windows 10. I'm trying to record video using the camera app. When I click record it seems to be recording, the counter goes, although when I stop recording, the resulting video is only 1 second and has no audio. I can see also the files are always around 4MB, regardless of how long I tried to record for. Any idea how to fix this?

Microsoft Camera App Win 10 low frame rate for video recording

I have a fast laptop ACER V15 Nitro Black i7-6700, 16GB RAM, 256 SSD, GTX 960 4GB... I am trying to get decent recordings with the Microsoft Camera App. I have a Magewell xi100dusb-hdmi video capture device. Super simple HDMI in USB 3 out. To windows it
looks like a webcam but when I attach a nice camera to it, it looks like much, much better.

When I record a video using the Camera App, I have it set to 1920x1080P at 30PS. The actual recorded video is around 1/3 of that at 10-12 frames a second.

The lappy is fast enough. The capture hardware is good as I can run Skype video and transmit at 30FPS. Recording video with the built-in webcam record fine at 30FPS, but is looks like ****.

Any suggestions?

 

How to open camera and start camera recording in windows 10 using commands

The Camera app in Windows 10 helps you to take pictures, record videos, or stream video while video chatting. To open the Camera, follow these steps:

• Right-click on the Start button and choose Run.
• Enter this command in the Run dialog box: microsoft.windows.camera:.
• Click OK.

Automatic recording is unavailable in the Camera app. To record videos, you first have to switch to
Video mode. Tap the Video button from the right side of the app’s window.

Unable to record video in Camera app

We understand the difficulties as you are unable to record a video using the camera app. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

• What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• What is the make and model of the PC?
  
• Was there a major change or an update on your system, prior to which you weren't facing this issue?

However, we would suggest you to perform these methods and check if the issue persist.

Method 1: Stop the camera using other apps

1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc key from the keyboard to open
   Task Manager.
   
2. Click on Processes tab and check which programs are currently running in the background of the system.
   
3. Check if any app that uses Camera, end that program.

Method 2: Reset the Camera App.

1. Press Windows +I key from the keyboard to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Apps, Select Apps & feature from the left pane.
   
3. Search for Camera app in the list and click on it, then select
   Advanced options.
   
4. Then click on Reset and then restart the PC and check if the issue persist.

Method 3: Update the Camera driver.

1. Press Windows + X, select
   Device Manager.
   
2. Expand Imaging devices.
   
3. Right click on the listed camera device and click on
   Update Driver.
   
4. Please restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
