Windows 10: Windows 10 clean install stuck installing updates

I've just registered into this forum, i hope there would be someone who can solve my problem, thanks before

My device:
Laptop Asus G73SW
Core i7
8GB RAM
460M
2x1TB drive
UEFI support (but still with old bios interface)

Media & method used:
8GB usb drive
Rufus
Media creation tiol
Windows 10 ISO (from any resources)
Windows 10 Insider Preview ISO
Windows 10 ISO from ESD convert

These days i was trying to do a clean windows 10 install via usb disk, but dunno why i'm always stuck at "Installing Updates" section. There's no light indicator flashing on hdd/fdd

I already tried so many method, like installing on legacy mode, uefi mode, removing my 2nd hard drive, creating bootable drive with ntfs/fat32, downloading iso from another resources, using media creation tool, etc.

BUT NO LUCK, i don't want to go back to win7 to get windows 10
I hope if there's someone who can solve my problem, thanks before

Error 0x80070002.

I've just did a clean install on my main pc and, Windows update got stuck with the error 0x80070002. It got stuck at Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3201845).

Recently I tried to clean install windows 10 home in my laptop. After installation , the system checks for some important updates. During the restart, my screen got stuck in the restarting. the rolling dots got stuck at some point and then no progress.

I already tried may be around 10-11 times to install windows 10 home, but after the update if you restart, it again got stuck.

Please help me out to resolve this issue asap.

 

Unplug your computer from any ethernet network connections and disconnect from your WiFi. Do not enter a WiFi password or connect to WiFi if asked during the install. And yes, keep all extra hard drives disconnected until you get it installed on the hard drive/SSD you want Windows 10 on. After it is all installed and stable with a local user account that you create, then you can connect everything else to the computer, connect to ethernet network if you have a wired network, connect to WiFi, and if you want to convert the local user account created to a Microsoft account login.

If you have problems with it activating right away after you connect to the internet, open a Command Prompt (Admin) and run:
slmgr /ato

in the command prompt Window. That will trigger an online automatic activation.

 

Umm, i don't think it will scan any networks if doing a clean install with bootable drive i've already tried on another laptop, the usb booted and installing windows 10 successfully i'm having a really really hard time with my current laptop right now

 

I have clean installed on my laptop which is very similar to yours with no problems. Didn't pay close enough attention to see yours was a dual drive laptop that is next to impossible to remove the second HDD drive, so forget about doing that!

I have since upgraded 1 HDD to 500GB SSD, upgraded RAM to 16 GB, and upgraded the network card to Intel 7260HMW with N-AC dualband WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

I say just make sure you aren't connected to any network and let it go - maybe give it up to 1 hour at that spot in the install.

Another idea is to make a bootable USB flash drive of Kyhi's recovery drive:

Boot from that and download a Windows 10 ISO file to the second hard drive in the laptop:

or download the ISO file to a second USB flash drive (NTFS formmated) and copy the ISO file from the flash drive to the second hard drive. Then in Kyhi's recovery drive, mount the ISO file stored on the second hard drive and install Windows 10 to the first hard drive from there. That's the way I did mine.

After I got Windows 10 installed on my SSD, then I created a custom recovery partition on the second hard drive by creating a FAT32 partition on it, extracted a Windows 10 installation ISO file to the FAT32 partition, and replaced the Windows 10 boot.wim file with the boot.wim file from Kyhi's recovery drive. If the Windows 10 on the SSD goes bad, I can do a boot override in UEFI to boot from the 2nd hard drive and re-install to the SSD.

 

I've just followed ur instruction with bootable windows 10 iso and replace boot.wim with kyhi's boot.wim. the installation went successfully, but when it restart, i'm stuck at loading screen with no drive activity. I leave it about 4/5 hours but no luck. Maybe is there something i've just missing? Thanks before

 

Have you tried forcing power off by holding power key, and then restarting with no USB flash drive inserted?

 

I've already do that recently. Btw can i use fat32 format usb for kyhi's boot.wim? Because if i use ntfs format, the windows was installed as legacy/mbr system not uefi/gpt. Maybe that's the problem for now, or is it something else?

UPDATE:
i've successfully install the windows into uefi/gpt, but still has same result, stuck at booting/loading screen

 

About the only thing I can think of is power off 3-5 times and see if that forces it to boot in safe mode and then look for something in device manager that might be causing it to hang up.

Although another question - this is a clean install - have you successfully done an upgrade before? This had Windows 10 on it before from an upgrade?

Also, are you on the latest bios - v. 205? And is bios set to defaults?

 

Yes, i was on windows 10 insider preview 14366 previously, and i want to install newest build 14393, but when i try to update via windows update or setup.exe, it's always stuck at blank screen after restart prompt from finished preparing files setup. So i try to clean install, but it's never succeed until now.

Another method i tried is doing a clean install windows 7 and running setup.exe from lastest insider preview iso (14393), but it's also give me a blank screen.

and then i try again to upgrade to windows 10 via windows update inside the win7. It's successfully installed, i can get into win10 desktop.

from here i still have some will to get the lastest insider preview build, because at this stage i'm just using the lastest official release (th2), which i think is really old and less feature compared to the lastest 14393 build. So i try to update into lastest insider preview from windows update, but still no luck, it give me a same result, blank screen after restart prompt from windows update.

So i'll just give up from participating at insider preview build. I think my laptop won't let me install any insider preview build. I'm just gonna use win10 th2 and wait until 2 august, i hope it wouldn't give a same result like this

Yea, my bios is already at v.205

 

Houston, we have a problem. If your computer won't take the upgrade to 14393 it is highly unlikely it will take the upgrade to the August 2 Anniversary upgrade because we are 99% certain that build 14393 is the Anniversary upgrade.

 

But, i'm still confused why my current laptop (asus g73sw) won't install this build (14393) while my another laptop (hp sleekbook) can be installed successfully

 

The only thing I can think of would be a hardware driver incompatibility. You don't have any exclamation points or unknown devices in Device Manager do you?

 

Until now i've never experienced any exclamation mark inside my device manager
