Windows 10: Windows 10 computer won't boot following latest upgrade; errors 0xc0000034 and 0xc0000225

Following the latest Win 10 upgrade, automatically performed a few days ago, our computer now won't boot. The automatic repair won't work; I have downloaded an installation media on a usb drive, and can get that to start, but I get no farther than the troubleshooting menu and then nothing works. I have spent two days trying various solutions suggested online, but none work. I have gone as far as attempting to copy boot files, but get "failure when attempting to copy boot files." The errors reported by the system are 0xc0000225 and 0xc0000034. Any suggestions before I give up and install a new OS, deleting 3 years of files, pictures, and work?

0xc0000225 boot error

For some odd reason when I turned on my computer today, I was greeted with the error 0xc0000225 stating that my NLS files were corrupt/missing. I am Running Vista x64 and so far have tried the following:

Replace NLS files
Windows repair utility
Restored an old working registry backup
Tried booting with different ram configurations
Created new BCD / Boot
Chkdsk


Google suggests something about apci, but my gigabyte ud3p doesn't have such an option (already vista compatible) and it seems to only occur to people who are initially installing and not people who already have a working copy.

Error 0xc0000034 is displayed when either the bootmgr file is corrupt or missing or the BCD (Boot Configuration Data) is corrupt or missing. We would like to know more about the issue that you are encountering. Please provide the following
information:

• Were there any changes made on your computer before this issue came up?
• Do you get the same error code 0xc0000034?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have done so far?
