Windows 10: Windows 10 contact can’t be deleted

Im having an issue with my outlook and windows 10 contacts, when i open my mail app and click the search bar a contact appears when i click on this contact it says i can add the contact or edit the contact but not delete the contact.


when i go to my desktop (windows 10) and search for the contact it appears in the people app and yet again it says add the contact but i cannot delete the contact, but when i open the people app and scroll through its not there!


I only have one email account linked and synced up to my desktop and my emails, ive even checked skype to see if the contact is snycing from there but its not, its getting quite annoying now that the contact is constantly showing up but im unable to delete it.


If anyone could provide a solution or any possible solutions it would be massively appreciated, thank you.

Deleting contacts from Windows 10


When you say Windows Mail Live are you referring to Mail app or Windows Live Mail?

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Open Windows Live Mail.
• Press Ctrl + 3 using your keyboard. Right-click on the contact to delete it if it is a single contact.
• Highlight all contacts by pressing Ctrl + A.
• Click Delete located on the Ribbon bar.
• Click OK when you see the message These contacts will also be deleted from Hotmail, Messenger, and other Windows Live services.

After following the steps above, all your contacts that you have manually added to your account will be deleted however, contacts coming from third-party sites such as Facebook will not be deleted unless you remove Facebook from your account.

For Mail app:

Open People app then delete the contact.

Try the step listed here, it's lower down saying that they aren't in your deleted folder. It is hidden, if not showing click the light bulb and type in recover and it will show you the hidden item
