Windows 10: Windows 10 Corrupt Registry

My PC has been experiencing a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATIONs regularly with cumulative updates recently. In the past, I've successfully uninstalled the update, or when that did not work I used System Restore.


After upgrading to Windows 10 version 2004, I experienced another DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error after a cumulative update. Using System Restore then corrupted my registry.


So far I have tried:

- Repairing the system

- Running an SFC scan

- The DISM command

- Restoring the System again

- Using Command Prompt to fix the corrupt registry \ appears as #


Are there any other methods besides resetting the PC that could be undertaken?

Corrupted registry

Hi,

Your concern occurs due to some corruption on your system files. We suggest that you try the methods below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Perform System File Checker (sfc) scan.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. To perform this, follow the steps on this link.
Steps mentioned on the link for Windows 8 and 8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.

Method 2: Run DISM commands.

Follow the steps below on how to run the DISM commands:

  Press Windows + X on your keyboard.
  
• 
  Select Command prompt (Admin) to open Administrator Command Prompt .
  
• 
  In the Command Prompt, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command.
  
  dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
  
  dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
