Windows 10: Windows 10 corruption: reset not working

I restarted my laptop recently after Windows 10 updates were applied and it no longer boots up properly. It would get to a black screen with nothing but the white arrow cursor. I could move the cursor for only a second before it froze in place and stopped working. I tried the following fixes for this situation which were presented as solutions for similar issues:

• Press ctrl+alt+del to bring up the login screen. Did not work.
• Press win+ctrl+shift+B to reset display. Did not work.
• Restarted the machine. Did not work.
• Disk repair: did not work.
• Entered recovery mode and tried EVERY option:
  • Repair: did not work
  • All the different start-up options such as safe mode: None of these worked.
  • System restore: did not work (all restore points failed with error 0x80071160 could not access wdboot.sys).
  • I tried troubleshooting the above system restore error following many posted Microsoft fixes: None of them would work.
  • I tried resetting Windows 10 while keeping my files. Did not work: it failed in multiple attempts and rolled back changes.
  • I tried resetting Windows 10 completely: did not work. It now hangs on boot with the white spinning dots (3 hours and counting.)

Where can I possibly go from here?

In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

DTS supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 and it should work on windows 10 too just DDL require to unlock your driver .

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
