Windows 10: Windows 10 crashes after every new update installation

Hi,

I have migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
Since the movement to Windows 10 I am getting a system crash with BLUE screen every time a new Windows 10 update is installed on the system.
I would like to know the reason behind this issue...
Also is this being observed by other Windows 10 users too?

Windows Apps are crashing at startup

After downloading some apps from Windows 10 store after every installation, they are crashing instantly at startup. Not only for games and for every app such as Skype and updating some apps. I want some help to solve this problem.

I have visited AMD web and installed the latest driver for my graphic card. Before that my computer crashed every cca 2 hours. When I was running on the outdated driver and with Verifier enabled I was
not able to log on as it always crashed shortly after booting. Now after updating the driver and Verifier enabled I can log into Windows but it crashes cca every 10 minutes without the DRIVER_VERIFIED_DETECTED_VIOLATION
alert but with completely new crash causes then before. Would you please be so generous and take a look at them?

Never happened to me once yet, on an upgrade from 7 SP1 or an upgrade from 8.1 Pro.

Maybe do a reset to see if it fixes the issue.

Recently I have reset the Windows 10 installation on my laptop.
Now there are not old software installation carried forward from the Windows 7 upgrade.

With this clean installation too I faced 2 consecutive BSOD crashes today while playing youtube videos on latest version of Opera!

Is there something to do with the flash player or something that is cause these crashes?

One word: drivers.

Update "HP Pavillion G6"* with Windows 10 specific drivers from HP. Do not let Windows find them for you, and do not let HP automatically find them for you. This way you can see if they even provide them for your computer (if not, that is a telltale sign that your computer isn't exactly Windows 10 supported).

If that isn't the case, we can focus on repairing Windows itself. Something tells me it is, though.

Quite possibly, they will be able to tell you what causes the crash specifically, and likely the cause is a driver or two, and perhaps some other things, who knows. Sometimes it can be a few things at once.

So after you update your drivers, it is quite possible you will receive better help if you post in the right place. Best of luck.

 

Well, probably Windows Update keeps installing new drivers for some device hence the BSOD. Look at this thread how to hide updates so they don't install automatically. I recommend hiding all driver updates and install any driver manually. For chipset you can go straight to Intel/AMD to get latest driver. For graphics, the same. Actually I prefer searching for latest drivers directly at device manufacturer first, and if I cannot find it, I resort to the notebook's support site. Frequently the support site has outdated drivers that may not work properly in Windows 10. And always remember backwards compatibility. If there is no Windows 10 driver available yet, don't panic! Try Windows 8 or 7, even Vista should work in worst case. Of course the newer the better.

Not enough, I had done it too but my nVidia drivers were updating to latest version automatically. I need older drivers because CUDA (hardware acceleration in video editing) support has changed in Forceware 340.xx and later, so old applications cannot detect and use it. Let's hope that by hiding nVidia updates my drivers will finally stay the version I want... So hide driver updates as well to be extra sure!

 

I checked on HP site about Windows 10 drives for my laptop. There they have not mentioned specifically if the drives have been published for this particular model. What is said is to go to device manager and do an update of the drives from there.

I have started the update of drivers and have updated the graphics card drives till now. Let us see how it goes...

 

HP telling you to do that is just their way of saying that they're too lazy to get you proper drivers. So they want you to make Windows find general prop-up drivers for you. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. I try to keep Windows from guessing what is best for my system, but not much you can do when the manufacturer taps out.

 

I have created a thread on the BSOD discussion regarding the crashes. It looks like something to do with Avast Antivirus only laptop...
