    Windows 10 Defender Offline Will Not Start


    Windows 10 Build 19043 Defender offline scan would stop running after selecting start scan. Agent at online chat believed system files were corrupt and remotely ran updating, SFC and DISM diagnostics without success to get the offline application to run. Agent finally downloaded appropriate ISO file for and to my computer for me to install after the chat. The Defender Offline works perfectly after the installation of the ISO keeping apps and files. I had read so many issues here on this community about trouble with Offline starting and running and wanted to share my experience that worked.

    Windows Defender Offline for Windows 10

    Tried this suggestion and it did not work. Tried to boot from USB with Windows Defender Offline transferred from a safe computer. Would not boot from USB. Message "Secure Boot Violation, Invalid Signature Detected, Check secure boot policy in Setup"
    Any suggestions on next steps for a Windows 10 compatible version of Windows Defender Offline?

    The following indicates that the solution that you directed me to, is not for Windows 10 (and did not work for Windows 10):

    Using Windows Defender Offline on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1

    If you're using Windows Defender Offline on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, you need to follow four basic steps:

    1. Download Windows Defender Offline and create a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.

    Hi,

    To further assist you with your concern with Windows Defender, follow the steps below:

    • Open the Run window by pressing Window + R button.
    • Then type services.msc and hit "Enter".
    • Look for Windows defender service in the list and right click on it and select start.
    • Once Windows defender is opened try to do the offline scan on that window.

    Let us know how it goes.
