    Windows 10 Defender will not update (OS 1809)


    Definition Update for Windows Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Definition 1.289.62.0) Error code 0x80070643.


    When I go to Windows Security page I see:

    Current Threats - no current threats. Last scan: Not available


    Virus and Threats Protection Updates - Engine Unavailable


    Engine Unavailable is what has me concerned. There's absolutely no information on the internet about this problem. If I go to "Who's protecting me?" on the right side of the screen and choose "Manage providers" it says "You're using other antivirus providers". Not so. Defender's my only antivirus program.

    Windows 10 Anniversary Update Issues

    Problems with W10 Anniv auto update:

    Mom's: (x58 Xeon 5677) Windows Defender was not turned back on automatically (it was "on" in the 1511 edition) and she had a Trojan. Full system scan to eradicate.
    Her Epson printer was knocked off, had to uninstall by Device Manager pull USB cable and reconnect cable. W10 did the rest.

    Step-mom's: (HP pre built) Windows Defender not turned back on by default. Her USB Seagate Expansion Drive 2Tb was offline so all backup routines were halted. Had to rerun backup plan. Had her do a full virus scan.

    Step-dad's: (Dell Optiplex tweaked upgrades) Windows Defender not turned back on by default. Full Scan.

    I suggest creating a backup image of your os drive
