Windows 10: Windows 10 Defender

I like Windows 10 and I like Windows Defender (in combination with MBAM) !
One small thing about Defender: every now and then it asks (in the taskbar) if it may scan my computer.
and every time I allow it to scan. Why doesn't it scan without my permission? is it possible to let it scan without my permission?
I already added a scheduled job for Defender but it still nags me to scan my computer. I know a small nuisance, but still...
I use Windows 10 Home 64-bit version 1511 OS Build 10586.71

Because you have MBAM installed Defender will always ask for permission to run its task. You cannot have both active at the same time. Only one will run.

 

It should just scan without requiring permission - MBAM and WD work fine alongside eachother with both being "active" at the same time

 

Yes you can, I have 3 security programs active at the same time.

 

Incorrect. Having three programs to protect from user's bad habits is not going to make the system safer.

It will actually cause problems down the road, along with the fact that they will conflict with each other.

Choose the best to protect you from bad habits and only use that one.

 

That is not how it works. You can only run one Anti-Malware/Anti-Virus program at a time.

 

Actually it does make my system more safer, currently running Malwarebytes AM + AE and Bitdefender TS 2016.
Malwarebytes products can run along most A/V, but is NO replacement for A/V as it (AM) is designed to be a layer that works above the already installed A/V.
An A/V is not the same as an A/M and I'm not talking about 3 A/V's!

When talking about 3 A/V's then you're correct, but I'm not only talking about A/V's which is why I stated security as does the OP not only state about A/V's.

 

Malwarebytes is designed to run alongside other AV's - since it is an anti-malware solution not an anti-virus solution.

 

Yes it is coded to work alongside another anti-malware/anti-virus product. That still does not stop it from another a/v program conflicting with it.

axe0 it does not make the OS safer. Changing user behaviors is how you make the system safer.
A/V software is no better than locking up your house. Both are created to keep the honest ones out.

@bro67, it does make the system safer, running multiple protection software has a greater chance of protecting the system. No multiple AV's, but 1 AV and 1 AM.
Yes there is a chance of conflicts, but then you simply configure both to skip the files of each other. Although I never have seen that on all dozens of machines I have configured.

If you want to believe that you can run 1 protection software at a time, fine but you won't convince me that running more is bad and won't increase protection and stuff *Wink

To the OP, unfortunately I have no idea what could cause that, I haven't been able to replicate your problem.

 

I agree the first point of security is the user and his or her behaviour and browsing habits.

But at the same time, having multi-layered, non-conflicting protection is great advice.

Such as running an AV, MBAM and MBAE.

 

That topic mentions no conflicts - just how to potentially prevent it, as it JUST WORKS anyway
