Windows 10: Windows 10 - Delete button in photos app randomly stops working

Hi,I've seen a few posts here but they are not exactly the same issue.I'm using the Photos default app in Windows 10 to do a filtering of my photos: I want to delete the bad ones. I'll usually be able to delete a few and then I can't delete any more either with the Trash icon or the Delete button. I'll need to close the app and open it again to be able to delete. Until I face the issue randomly again.I have had this issue on two PCs now over a few months if not years.I can't go to Windows 11 for now.Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to open photos in Windows 10. The default app is Microsoft Photos. The app just stopped working this afternoon. When I try to open a picture it comes up with an error saying "The app didn't start". I have tried to delete and reinstall the
app, but the uninstall options I have tried cannot find the app. I have searched to find the Photos application file on the computer and I cannot find it, but when I try to reinstall or update the app from the windows store it says the app is already installed.
There is no way to reinstall it. The app icon is listed in the All Apps list, but when I click on the button there is a brief flash and I get bounced back to the desktop. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Failing that, is there a way to I reset the default photo viewer to Windows Photo Viewer? It is a pain to have to go through the right click - "Open With" process to pick a different program every time I have to open a photo.

 

Photos / Edit Stopped Working

This seems to be a hiccup with the application's software. What you can try is to do the following steps which will reset the internal state of the Photo app:

• Press Windows button + R.
• Type: %appdata%\..\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
• Delete all the contents of that folder

This issue often caused by a corrupted files. For us to have your Photo app working, we suggest that you restore Photos app package by following these steps:

• Click on Start.
• Type PowerShell, and select Windows PowerShell
  from the list of result.
• Type this command and press Enter:
  • Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
• Restart your computer. Check if the issue persists.
