Windows 10: Windows 10 Deleting System Files

Hi,


We have a problem with Windows 10 deleting system files. We actually use Windows Deployment to image machines and then deploy to machines with new hard disks installed. However recently we have encountered problems with Windows 10 deleting system files on newly imaged machines so much so that when we restart the machine we get the blue network error screen telling us that certain system files are missing.


The files go missing while the machine is switched on, so not when we boot. We can actually see the size of the windows folder has reduced in size after half hour, an hour the time varies so next time we boot up we end up at the blue screen again.


We are imaging older machines and there is a lot of older legacy software on these images so maybe that's a problem. We thought it might be the anti virus deleting the files but can't see why that might be. The AV doesn't pick up any viruses or anything.


This issue is causing us a lot more work we are a small IT dept with a lot of users.


Anyone else had this problem before or any idea as to what might be causing it?

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

Unable to delete temporary files

Looks like you are running out of storage space, let's walk you through the steps of running
Disc cleanup for your Windows 10 device.

To delete temporary files, kindly follow these steps:

• Press the Windows key to launch the Start menu.
• Type in Disc cleanup and press Enter.
• Under Files to delete, select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.
• Select OK.

If you need to free up more space, you can also delete system files:

• Press the Windows key to launch the Start menu.
• Type in Disc cleanup and press Enter.
• In Disk cleanup, select Clean up system files.
• Select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.
• Select OK.
